Sometimes it comes so easily… Sometimes it doesn’t…

I wanted to take a moment to talk about writer’s block… really, it’s “anything block”, but let’s talk about writing first and foremost…

In the last couple of years, writing has come more easily than it ever has before. I actually finished two novel length stories. I put them out there for the world to read! It was amazing and made me feel stronger than I ever have before.

However, this last year… in fact, I think it’s been exactly a year… some hard points happened and I’ve started feeling lost. Initially, I thought about going into that, but that’s not what we’re talking about. In essence, I’ve just lost a touch of my writing mojo.

So, how do you get that back? I’m still working on it, to be honest. I just think there are a couple of things I can do to jumpstart my butt:

  1. Give myself grace. It’s okay that you maybe haven’t written as much as you did before.

  2. Schedule myself time to write. If I set myself some time, it’s at least set aside.

  3. Put aside distractions. Recently, I’ve been sucked into a bunch of different web novels… typically found because of in-game ads. It’s okay to read them… but not at the expense of writing… which I enjoy more… Especially as some of those web novels… Well, let’s just say I’d be embarrassed to get money for them. (P.S. It’s also really important to look for where the author originally put them. If you find them on WattPad or Amazon… Yeah, they’ve probably been stolen if you find them on a pay-per-chapter app.)

  4. Just write. Not everything has to be Shakespeare. That’s what the editing process is for.

OK, so I don’t want to overwhelm myself. Let’s try these four things and see if it helps.
